About Yarn Stashio
It all started in 2002, when I received the February issue of Martha Stewart Living Magazine. The main article for that issue revolved around all the wonderful new yarns and fibers that were making their way onto the knitting scene.
Knitting came to me at a very dark time in my seasons of life. I was caring for my husband's aging parents. I needed to be surrounded by beauty at the end of every day to gather up my courage to face what lay ahead for tomorrow. I was looking for a craft that would not take me away from my family time as so many others crafts had done in the past. It needed to be portable for all those doctor's offices and hospital stays, affordable (ok, it did not turn out to be all that affordable), beautiful and fulfill my creative needs.
I had knit as a teenager. You know, the acrylic scarf made from yarn that cost a quarter at the local craft shop. But, when I saw the luxury yarns in the Martha Stewart Living Magazine, I fell in love, for the first time, with knitting.
I bought some really cheap yarn (one more time) at the local craft shop to see if I would the enjoy process of knitting. I was hooked on knitting but never wanted to knit ever again without the best yarns available ever again. My second project was a Colinette Point Five Cardigan! And yes, it did fit. I discovered that I was not allergic to wool, just cheap wool. I fell so in love with the wonderful fibers, ribbons and yarns, that I began to create a stash of my own. One that rivaled the local yarn shops in town.
For the first time, I found I could wear color and that knitting with color was contagious. The problem was that local shops never had enough variety to create totally awesome and unique wearable pieces of art. That was the birth of YARN STASHIO.
I now have more yarns than ever from all over the world. All are pure luxury, nothing but the best yarns, many of which were never sold in the United States or are no longer available at any price. All of the YARN STASHIO yarns are created by hand. They are extremely limited editions, usually just 4-5 sets or kits. By the way, when a color way is gone, it is gone forever, never to be repeated. Please be sure to buy enough for your project needs upfront.
My love of color and fibers has grown over the years, as have my design abilities. I had two patterns published in the May issue of Creative Knitting and was accepted into TNNA-The National Needlearts Association in June of 2006, in recognition of those designs for Plymouth Yarn Company and Creative Knitting magazine. But my love is to use and create with YARN STASHIO yarns.
I will continue to create the ever popular Signature Scarf Kit in each new color way. It takes just an hour or two to create an awesome scarf and is such a wonderful way to sample the YARN STASHIO line. Or simply select a YARN STASHIO Designer Collection, in your favorite color way and start that very special project you have been dreaming about for years.
The YARN STASHIO Designer Collections are assembled by hand into ready to knit colorways that are just perfect for patterns from designers such as Jane Thornley, Chris Bylsma, No Plain Jane Knits, Prudence Mapstone, Iris Schreier and Terri Ranck to name a few. The Desiginer Collections are also wonderful for Freeform Knitting, Freeform Crochet, Multi Directional and Multi Yarn projects, as well as the many YARN STASHIO designs currently available. OR better yet, choose your own favorite pattern or design one of your own!
Custom color ways or quantities can be ordered at any time. Even a custom gauge! Please send an email with your request for more details.
I strive to produce yarns of the highest possible quality with designs that can be knit today and worn tomorrow. I specialize in timeless colors, with a few trendy color ways now and then, so that your investment in yarn and time will look fresh for many years to come.
I hope you decide to trust several of your next projects to YARN STASHIO yarns. It will be our pleasure to serve you.
