About the
East Coast Meerkat Society
Thanks for your interest in the East Coast Meerkat Society.
We are an informal group who share a passionate interest in meerkats. We work together on projects to better the lives of meerkats in our zoos and researchers who study them in the Kalahari Desert.
We are a nonprofit, operated by unpaid volunteers and with no overhead.
Our group was started in December 2006, when a few people got together to work on a project to raise the funds to rebuild the meerkat enclosure at the Staten Island Zoo, NY, one of the smallest and oldest zoos in the country, a beautiful jewel of a place, with their meerkats in an enclosure that was far from ideal.
We completed the fund-raising in six months. The new meerkat enclosure was dedicated on Saturday, Sep. 29. 2007. It is beautifull.
Learn more about the East Coast Meerkat Society and about meerks from our web site: http://www.meerkatsrule.org If you encounter any problems with this shopping cart, please let us know.
We also have offices in Birmingham, Alabama; Sterling, Virginia; Ocala, Florida.
Because we are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization and our product sales activity is operated from a residence, we ask that visits be arranged in advance.
