About Maui Print Shop

The Three Most Important Factors when it comes to getting your jobs printed are:

  • 1. PRICE Your average Maui Printing presses keep their pricing competitive by utilizing lower quality (lighter to ship) papers that are no thicker than several sheets of ordinary paper, the presses are also unable to seal the color, improve the shine and protect against the elements by applying a UV coating that repels moisture, fading, cracking and peeling. Color calibration with some of Maui's aging presses is not guaranteed, and several clients have reported color matching and density issues that look nothing like the original. In addition, to keep costs competitive, Maui Presses require the printing to be done on a "Gang Run" (waiting until a enough jobs accumulate to entirely fill up a press run so there is no wasted space once the press begins to print). This brings the average 3.5" x 2" business card cost down to $115 or $135 for a single-sided card on 100 lb. non-UV-coated stock? (about half the thickness of Maui Print Shop's 16pt stock). Want to add backside color printing? It almost doubles the cost! At Maui Print Shop, all of our full color printed materials are double sided, full-bleed (image runs off the edge), UV Coated, 16 point premium cardstock; printed faster and cheaper than the Maui competition!
  • 2. STOCK (Ink, Paper, Glossy Coating). Our ability to print on 16 pt. glossy card stock (almost as thick as a credit card) and utilize UV coating (ensuring higher gloss, better color, as well as fade and moisture resistance) comes standard on every order, and Matte (non-shiny) stock is also available. Linen papers are also available for letterhead, envelopes, etc. We also offer a spot Silver ink (PMS877C).
  • 3. TURNAROUND TIME Your average Maui Printing Companies keep their pricing competitve by utilizing the aforementioned "Gang Runs" (waiting until the press fills up with enough orders to make it economical to run the press and stay competitively priced.) This can delay turnaround times up to 1-3 WEEKS!).

Maui Print Shop guarantees your printing will be printed, cut, folded and in the mail via UPS 2 Day Delivery within 2-5 business days; usually sooner. *(Some tri-fold brochures require a 7 day turnaround).

How can Maui Print Shop offer such low prices?

As most Mauians know, doing business in Hawaii can be an expensive and unique challenge, but thanks to recent technological advances in the commercial printing field, some things are actually getting cheaper! The method of getting materials that every business needs to operate (business cards, letterhead, envelopes, flyers, etc) have changed drastically in the last 3 to 4 years, and have revolutionized industries that used to rely on large, labor-intensive operations that had to be on island to meet deadlines. Thanks to automated pre-press systems, direct-to-plate full color digital printing presses and decreased freight options, Maui businesses can take advantage of dramatically increased quality at reduced prices.

After 10+ years of Graphic Design work here on Maui, the need for the highest quality, most economical printing and the shortest turn-around times compelled a handful of Maui designers to seek out a reliable, cost-effective solution for their graphic design clients, both on Maui and nationwide.

Clients have had enough of expensive, poor quality printing that takes weeks to get back from the older printing companies. The obvious solution: Eliminate the extremely costly overhead expenses of running a modern printing press! Let the big Wholesale presses keep competition pushing the technology forward, encouraging the wise us of resourses and hkeeping prices affordable.

Maui business people agree: running a profitable company here on the Valley Isle is difficult. Running a professional commercial printing operation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean while staying competitive and offering the cutting edge results is no small task: Start with a large, expensive warehouse space to house the labor-intensive presses that require specially trained pressmen, technicians, large inventories of various inks and solvents, lots and lots of different stock (paper types and thickness), paper or metal color separation plates, cutting and bindery equipment, film and a staff of pre-press designers, salespeople and customer service managers to keep it all operational; it all results in a substantial markup being passed on to you, the client. And we haven't even gotten to the extra glossy, moisture and fade resistant UV Coating that all competitive printers offer.

Rather than drag all that out to our island in the sun, why not let the leading print innovators continue to push technology through fierce mainland competition and take advantage of the newest technologies. Ones that utilize our natural resources better, offer renewable, recycled stocks, soy-based inks, require less toxic chemicals, are more energy efficient and of course, cheaper.
