The Metron is a new concept that Atomic has rewritten the book for all condition skis. (NOTE: Most of the 2006-07 skis from other companies have increased their sidecuts following the Metron thinking.) Aggressive side-cut is combined with generous surface area to enable the skier to carve some nice arcs on the groomed then blast through the untracked snow with ease on the same run. - Metron geometry has the surface area of a powder ski with the length and sidecut of a carving ski.
Canada's Ski Press Mag had this to say about the M9,"Ski on the Metron 9 and you’re climbing a stairway to heaven. Start out easy, at slow speed on gentle terrain, and the ski is a smooth operator. Then you start stepping it up, increasing the speed and the challenge, and guess what? Still a smooth operator. That’s what makes the Metron 9 a great ski for anyone aspiring to higher performance levels — it’s a ski able to do it all, easy or hard. “Reliable, versatile, lively and energetic,” is the way one tester described it. Now that sounds heavenly.
SMOOTH AND RELIABLE, A SKI THAT NEVER MISBEHAVES."
We found this ski to be a great blend of edge-to-edge quickness combined with great long turn stability. It has Atomic’s legendary edge hold. The big side cut really lends itself to great carving. Just tip it up on edge and the over sized tip pulls you in to the turn…makes carving automatic. Yet this ski has a really big waist and a large overall foot print giving the M:9 plenty of float for powder.
