The shape ski revolution is old news. If you’re still skiing first or second generation parabolics, you’re working too hard! Atomic’s Nomad Blackeye measure 79mm under foot, making it over 1.5 cm wider than earlier shapes. Blackeye is simply more stable and more buoyant.
Blackeye’s turning radius measure 17m – tighter than earlier shapes skis that averaged 20m. This sidecut represent an ideal compromise between turning and stability. Most skiers will ski Blackeye in a shorter 171cm length, making for even easier handling.
Lastly, Blackeye is a full 1.5 pounds lighter (nearly 20%) than yesterday’s shapes. Imagine not having to lift 1.5 extra pounds over the course of a multi day ski vacation. On today’s Nomads you’ll ski longer without getting tired, turn easier and feel more confident in rough terrain. Isn’t it time to refresh your equipment?
TFC stands for Torsion and Flex Control (see below). This innovation shaves excess weight in the tip and tail, and creates forgiving flex zones. Yet its nano-reinforced backbone puts a stranglehold on twisting so Nomads go where you point them and deliver the unique edge control that is Atomic’s hallmark.

Ski Reviews
Ski Net - Testers have come to expect more from Atomic in this category, but less is better. The Blackeye has power, heft and stability, but it's less demanding-not to mention far less heavy-than recent Atomics. The Blackeye is similar to the Nomad Crimson Ti (AME Freeride), but in a narrower width and with no metal. Unflappable stability remains its greatest strength, but never at the expense of general ease. "Light, quick and still plenty stable," said Schoff.
