This patch is the emblem of the Ares Program component of the NASA Constellation program. It is made by AB Emblems, the NASA Contractor for mission patches. The triangular shape is four(4) inches in diameter.
The Ares program will develop a new generation of launch system to be know as the Ares I and Ares V. The I and V designations honor the remarkable success of the Saturn Ib and the Saturn V lauch systems from the Apollo era. The Ares program builds on technology originally developed for the Apollo program of the 1960's and Space Shuttle program of the 1970's.
The Ares I is being developed by a consortium of aerospace companies and components are being tested at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
For more information on the Constellation program, see the NASA Constellation web site.

NASA Constellation Program
The program to develop the technologies to take humanity back to the Moon and on to Mars has been labeled Constellation.
With the Space Shuttles scheduled for retirement in 2010, Constellation will soon be the most visible NASA activity. The program currently involves the development of the new lauch vehicles Ares I and Ares V, the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) named Orion, and the Extra Vehicular Systems (aka Space Suits) of the future.
