Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS), deployed on the third day of the mission. The 14,500-pound observatory made the most extensive study ever conducted of the Earth's troposphere.
The patch is made by AB Emblems, the NASA Contractor for mission emblems. This 4 inch diameter embroidered patch was the emblem of Space Shuttle Mission STS-48.
