Brooklyn native Jamel Shabazz is considered one of the most influential and important photographers of the late 20th century. Called the Gordon Parks of his era, Shabazz's timeless imagery represents the visual voice of a people and serves as a powerful tool towards education and empowerment. The iconic photographer has now collaborated with Sedgwick & Cedar to create a t-shirt line based on his enduring photographs. Today, we present you this collection as well as some restocks on the best selling poster prints he introduced (also with Sedgwick & Cedar) late last year.

We first dropped these clean white tees from OddMenOut last year, and you guys seemed to dig them cuz they blew out pretty fast. So once again, we've re-upped on all 4 styles, only a few of each so you've got another chance to claim one of these as your own. We start this Thursday off with the introduction of yet another new line on Digital Gravel. FOURTH IS KING was born out of a design firm in Chicago called Adapt Studio (http://www.adapt-studio.com), when the founder and head designer, J. Byrnes, embarked on a project to do work that wasn't just design for clients but creations that appealed to his own sensibilities. As he puts it, "This time I wanted to do something for myself. Take some of the ideas in my head and make them come to life. Fourth is King is a well thought out brand that gives me the opportunity to create and sell products." The three designs we have today all play with smooth lines and fresh colors and are obviously the product of a deliberately conceived idea.

As usual, we keep it rolling monday morning... and the pun is semi-intended this time cuz today we have a custom Rollin' High dice set from Mike Giant & Tools of The Trade with fresh packaging in a medicinal tube. There's also a matching poster of just Mike Giant's artwork for the game. The game and the poster are just $10 a pop, or you can get them both together for $15. Sweet Deal right? We're real excited today, cuz we are finally working with one of our all time favorite design companies, SUCK UK, who consistently churn out some of the most clever gadgets and accessories from their London headquarters. Although we'll be getting in alot more from them over the coming weeks, we're getting the party started with 5 classics from their catalog. Eskuche is an LA-based headphone company with a fresh collection of throwback styled pieces that'll make you look like you just jacked your parents for their vintage electronics. As a kid coming up in and around street culture the first artist that really made an impact on me (and many like me) was the incredible and legendary MEAR ONE. I first started seeing his complex, detailed, political, urban masterpieces in the back of URB magazine every month and would just sit there and stare at the images, analyzing every tiny bit, mesmerized by the sheer depth of the art and its meaning. For longer than many have even known what street art was, MEAR ONE has been considered the Michaelangelo of Graffiti, having laid his incredible skills down on infinite walls (especially in his Los Angeles stomping grounds), album covers for the likes of the Freestyle Fellowship and even on t-shirts for iconic pioneering brands like Conart. MEAR ONE has affected street art and culture so much that it's hard to define how far his influence really reaches. When MEAR ONE reached out to us to carry this exclusive collection, it was a genuine honor that he would even consider us and we're really excited to be bringing this stuff to you today. This collection features 10 unreleased t-shirt designs from his own RE-FORM apparel line. Its not really fair to even put these in the t-shirt category because the cuts have all been engineered from scratch, the quality of the fabric and the printing is top notch, and the art is pure, unbridled MEAR ONE genius. OK, so a few weeks back we introduced you guys to a new line out of Brooklyn, NY called BOLT CUTTER, and one of the best selling tees from the collection we put up was this flip on the "YO! MTV RAPS" design that was doctored to read "OY! MTV SUCKS". Since you guys liked the first batch so much, the homie over at BOLT CUTTER hit me up and suggested we do a specially priced, special edition of these tees for DG in eleven different colorways. We love getting you guys something special for a really good price, so ofcourse we were down to make it happen. While perusing the interwebs recently, I came across these really dope iPhone case, handmade from recycled and repurposed vintage fabrics by the clearly talented BLYTHE KING. These "iSockits", are snug fitting, slightly cushioned and well-made cases that you can slide your trusty iPhone into for protection and general nice-lookingness... and they all also feature a small front pocket for money, keys or any other doodads you might wanna keep together. Face it, your iPhone is basically the central hub for your life, you may as well dress it up nice and take care of it... and most of all, make sure it's not rocking the average, boring case like all the other ones. As bad as things have been in this recession, I find that it's actually sparked a new creativity and spurred some motivation amongst designers to find real substance amongst the rubble of a crumbling and boring visual landscape. Things are shifting away from cool trends and back to the basics, where things had to have real significance and meaning to spark your interest. FRANK&JAN is a new line out of NY that to me really captured this newly emerging spirit, the re-embrace of the old good. All the designs pack a punch but are done in a simple black & white rendition, letting the actual graphic do the speaking. The concepts play on current conditions but are timeless in what they convey. Also, a return to basics is the price: $24 a pop for a solid tee that actually says something. The good folks over at CLASS couldn't let All Star Sunday go by without making their very own EAST vs WEST contribution too. Today, they drop a limited edition BIGGIE vs TUPAC series, with two different torso print tees... one for each legendary rap icon. You better get on this one quick cuz these might be done with before the All Star Game is.

84 was the number, another summer. It was an inspirational year for most of us babies of the eighties... especially those of us that came up around hip hop culture and everything that branched off from it, from graffiti to breakdancing. It wasn't always all good though: the crack epidemic was part of that historical landscape too. NYC was the epicenter of this dawn of a new era, and the cats from Double Down NYC were there front and center to experience it all. Now, more than 25 years later, they take us on a trip back down memory lane with their on-going "84 Series", with references to old school mainstays that'll spark some nostalgia in you OG's. We used to carry a lot of books here at Digital Gravel but then our collection dwindled as people bought them up and like the scatter brained maniacs we are, we kinda forgot to bring more stock in. So, for the past few months everyone has been asking us to get on the book grind again, and we're finally going to oblige because 1. we are running out of excuses, and 2. we actually love books. So today, we figured we'd start the book party off with a legend of the publishing world, PHAIDON PRESS, an 85 year old book company that has long been considered the best in the visual arts realm. We're kicking things off with 7 new titles that cover a nice spectrum from Graphic Design to Industrial Design, and don't expect these to break your bank... some of these books are as low as $8.95. So get ready cuz the book parade begins now and we will be bringing much more in from PHAIDON and other great publishers over the coming weeks.

For a few years now, a lot of t-shirt companies have been so content just dropping tees with prints of their logos and pretty patterns that it almost felt like nothing actually meant anything anymore.. that it had become more about aesthetics than concept. 101 APPAREL is one of the few that whose designs always seemed to have a solid base of reference points and ideas, all stemming from their obvious love and deep knowledge of all musical styles across the globe; from afro-beat to disco, Brazilian samba, bossa nova and Tropicalia, to the vast encycolpedia of electronic music, hip hop, funk, soul, reggae and jazz, and everything that falls in between. The funny thing about the rise of so-called "streetwear" and the insistence of many to label themselves that way was that there wasn't much "street" to the "wear" that a lot of people were putting out. In our recent efforts to really crack through the surface and find more up and coming designers, we came across STREETWISE CLOTHING CO. I'll be honest, at first I was a little put off by the name. Usually when a brand has the word "Street" in their name, it usually means that there's nothing street about them... but one look at these guys' tees made me realize that was definitely not the case here. Founded in 2003, they make killer graphics and as they put it themselves are "dedicated to those who came from struggle and are determined to succeed by any means necessary". We've got 6 new styles as an intro collection from these guys, and they are all bangers. From the streets of LA to the concrete jungles of the world.
