Soul Power 74 is a timeless tune that was adapted from the Godfather of Soul himself, Mr. James Brown. After the original was recorded, his main man Mace-o did an instrumental version that amounted to a re-edit with additional dubbed out horns amongst other studio trickery. Soul Power 74 to this day is an official soul banger that is played in every club from Detroit to Tokyo. Using the outstretched hand as a symbol of the people’s fight for liberation from tyranny and oppression, we decided to keep the vibe intact with a large thick font and nice sharp colors that will single you out on the dancefloor. High-Life is a traditional African style of music that originated in Ghana and rapidly spread throughout West Africa in the 1920's. The music is funky and rhythmic with guitars playing harmonic intricate riffs over bright jazzy horns with lyrics that touch upon themes of oppression and revolution. Recently, there has been alot of interest in High-Life due to diggers unearthing funky rarities from the villages of Ghana to the streets of Nigeria. 101 Apparel has been bumping these tunes for a while so we created a design that pays homage to all the artists invested in the High- Life movement. The shirt features the text "High Life" in the center with a kalimba, conga, djembe and microphone juxtaposed within the African inspired font. Afro-jazz junkies, collectors of ethnic music, and audio archivists this one is for you. by 101 Apparel

Kingston is to Jamaican music what New Orleans is to American music; the original epicenter, the nexus of creativity from where everything else flows. Ska, rocksteady, and reggae were created in the Kingston ghettoes and if those early artists and dancers knew anything, they knew how to get down and funky. This font is inspired by the Jamaican architecture and vintage 45’s of the time, and the colors stay bright and funky just like a classic Studio One Session by the Jamaican seashore. by 101 Apparel
